Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the most common questions our patients ask us here at The Glow.

If you have a question that you cannot find the answer to here, please don’t hesitate to call or text us at 703-577-0035.

  • Yes. We are proud to say we take many high-BMI (body mass index) patients, and are able to be a part of their transformational journey. To ensure the safety of our patients, we do have a BMI limit of 40 for cases using general anesthesia. For awake cases, there is no BMI limit.

Not sure what your BMI is? Use a BMI calculator, and input your height and weight to learn what your BMI is.

Why stop at 40? Plastic surgery is generally not recommended for patients with a high BMI because it can increase the risk of complications, as well as impair the healing process. Plastic surgery is not a weight loss solution but is a body contouring process for patients who are at a stable and healthy weight.

Not sure if your BMI is too high? Give us a call at 703-577-0035 and we can help you to determine your BMI. We will need your height and weight. If it is just on the cusp of our limit, we recommend a consultation to determine your eligibility

  • You can either call or text us at 703-577-0035 during our business hours (9am-5pm Monday-Friday) or fill out our appointment request form, and we will reach out to you.

  • Absolutely! We see many male patients here at The Glow, and plastic surgery for men is actually quite common. Some of the most popular surgeries men have include liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose job), tummy tuck, and ab etching. Cosmetic surgery for men can provide an improved body image and increased confidence.

  • We offer a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures here at The Glow. You can view a list of surgical and non-surgical (medspa) offerings under our “services” tab in our menu.

Just because you do not see a service listed does not necessarily mean we don’t offer it. We are always staying on top of the latest beauty and cosmetic trends and technology, and expanding our offerings. If you are interested in something not listed on our website please call us at 703-577-0035 to inquire about the service you are interested in.

  • Probably not! You’re never too old to look your best. We see lots of older patients here at The Glow. Having plastic surgery at an older age is safe for patients who are otherwise in generally good health. If you are an older patient interested in plastic surgery or other cosmetic procedures don’t hesitate to reach out and schedule a consultation with us.

Surgical Process

  • There is some risk of complications with every surgical procedure. Our well-trained, highly experienced doctors work closely with you to minimize that risk. Please carefully follow all pre-op and post-op instructions provided by our staff, to ensure that you are safe and well-cared for.

  • Please note that these are general instructions, and there may be additional steps you will need to take. Follow all of your doctor’s instructions.

Deposit: Please call our office regarding deposit payment confirmation. Discuss surgery date and time and financing options with the patient coordinator.

Pre-Op Clearance: Obtain medical clearance with your PCP (primary care physician), labs, and possible EKG if you are 50+. This must be submitted two weeks prior to procedure. If medical clearance is not completed or cleared, surgery will have to be canceled. Please email info@theglowaesthetics.com or Electronic Fax 571-210-4471 .

Purchase Faja Garment: You may purchase faja through The Glow, please contact our office ahead of time. For your convenience, you may need to purchase two fajas. The first one is for stage one (1 to 2 weeks). Stage 2 is from 2 to 6 weeks. Keep in mind your body is swollen and you will be shrinking in size. Our faja cost is $89.

Schedule Your Lymphatic Massages: We recommend 3 to 4 a week. These help with the healing and breakdown of scar tissue and excess fluids. If you are not within radius, please schedule lymphatic massage with a qualified drainage specialist who must have experience in post liposuction/BBL/and tummy tuck.

Pick up Prescriptions at least 3 days before surgery. Please bring them with you to surgery and do not take prescriptions before the procedure.

Transportation: Please make arrangements to have someone drive you to and from surgery confirmed.

What to Wear: Wear loose clothing and remove all jewelry - including piercings and also remove gel nails off of one finger.

General Anesthesia/ Twilight Sedation: Patients going to sleep do not drink, eat, chew gum, gargling or brushing your teeth 8 hours before). Surgery will be canceled.

Schedule Follow Up Appointments: It is very important to make sure you come back for your follow up appointments on week 1, week 2, week 4, and week 6 so that we can make sure your healing process is going well.

  • Our McLean office is conveniently located in the same building as the Pascual Surgery Center, the in-house accredited facility where we perform the majority of our surgical procedures.

The address for the Pascual Surgery Center is 1300 Chain Bridge Road, third floor, McLean, Virginia 22101.

  • If you are going under general anesthesia (which is true for the majority of our surgeries) you will be fully asleep and not feel anything during your surgery.

After surgery, most patients do experience mild to moderate discomfort; however, this should be relieved by the pain medications prescribed to you by your doctor. Discomfort and pain should decrease in the 48 hours after surgery.

  • In any surgical procedure where incisions are made in the skin there will be scars. This is an important part of the healing process. Our surgeons are highly skilled and will work carefully to minimize the appearance of any scars, using special techniques to hide scars when possible.

The size and shape of scars will vary depending on which procedure you get. For example, lipo 360 leaves a series of very small scars around the torso, while a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) will leave a scar across the bottom of the torso (hidden by your bikini line).

  • Yes, absolutely! Some of them even have multiple board certifications.

    What does board-certified mean?

Board certification is the highest level of accreditation within plastic surgery. It means that our surgeons are highly trained, have undergone numerous tests and peer review of their skills and knowledge in surgery.

  • We only post photos/videos of our patients on social media or our website when we have received their full, signed consent to do so. Patient privacy is of the utmost importance and we always respect our patients wishes when it comes to what parts of their journey is shared.

That being said, we do love to feature our patients who are willing. We’ve found it helps prospective patients learn more about the Glow experience and make an informed decision about where to go on their own journey.

Cost

  • No, we do not take insurance. Cosmetic surgery is considered “elective” and therefore is not covered by most insurance providers.

However, we do offer financing options through our partners. We understand that cost is a major factor for many patients. With financing, you don’t have to worry about saving up for your surgery, as there are options for lower monthly payment plans. Learn more about financing options here.

  • This is our most commonly asked question. We understand that pricing is an important factor for many of our patients to consider. However, because every patient is different, we cannot fully guarantee any set prices until we have had a consultation.

The cost of surgery will depend on how long it is, how complex the procedure is, the patient’s goals, health history, and more. This is why we require a consultation before we can give an accurate quote.

Because our consultations are complimentary, patients can complete one and receive an accurate quote without any additional cost. To schedule a consultation, please give us a call at 703-577-0035 or complete our appointment request form.

  • Our consultations are complimentary, which means you can meet with us to discuss your surgery options free of charge.

At a consultation, we will go over your goals for your procedure, take a look at your problem areas, discuss your eligibility for surgery, and determine the best plan of action moving forward.

To schedule a consultation, please call of text us at 703-577-0035 or complete our appointment request form.

  • There are two fees that are not determined by The Glow: the anesthesiologist’s fee and the facility fee. These are non-negotiable and separate from the initial cost of your surgery. They will also vary depending on how long your procedure takes, which can make it difficult to determine upfront.

Any questions you have about those fees can be answered during your consultation, after which you will be given your quote.
